Software, Bookkeepers and Accountants…
In 2005 Crunchers started as a bookkeeping software company. Next came the Crunchers brand, designed to help promote bookkeeping services. Now Crunchers offers a full range of benefits to franchisees and business owners including accounts and tax.
We did this because:
Technology is reducing the amount of bookkeeping
Business owners want a one-stop shop
We want to work directly with business owners
Our vision is to have 350 offices around the UK, all dedicated to improving the lives of business owners.
Some offices will be run by bookkeepers who send the books to the main accounting centre, some will be run by accountants who do their own accounts and tax. But everyone will be committed to creating outstanding results for their clients.
As well as bookkeeping, accounts and tax returns we will offer business owners help using technology, management accounting services, proactive tax planning and practical business advice.
We believe it is not enough to crunch the numbers; you need to make numbers work.
So... Who's at Crunchers?
After different jobs in small accountancy firms I joined Price Waterhouse in Windsor and qualified as a tax accountant in 1991. I set up my own practice at the age of 25 which I later merged into Kirkpatrick and Hopes in Reading and became the Marketing Director.
In 2005 I sold my shares in Kirkpatrick and Hopes and became the co-created of a software company which has brought in over £1m in sales. I am co-founder of Crunchers network of accountants and creator of the “Improving the Numbers” profit improvement system
My biggest client success is an accountant who grew at £100,000 per year for five years starting from a kitchen table.

What is our reason why?
We want to improve the lives of our customers. We do this by doing more than a typical accountant might. For example, we offer free bookkeeping software, training and coaching, practical business advice and proactive tax planning. And, we do this for an affordable fixed fee. This is why we call ourselves ‘Alternative Accountants’.
